My Best Friend

Created by Paul 7 years ago
Gary and I become friends at High School in The Pines in Frankston, 40 years ago Brought together by an interest in Politics and wanting to improve the lot of the have nots in society, we joined the ALP and the journey began. Looking back at the journey, Gary never faltered in his desire to help people, whose circumstances were less fortune. The thing about Gary, through out his whole life and our friendship was his kindness and generosity to everyone. Gary always put others first, often to his own detriment, but he wouldn't have it any other way. He dearly loved his family in Lacenet Avenue, Parents John and Rose, Big brother Des, and cousin Anne, But Gary ( Gus as we called him) also became part of our family. He was best man at our wedding and godfather to Dalton. When our son Ashley moved to London, Gus insisted he stay with him and always looked out for him.The whole Woods family loved Gary, and my brothers and I cannot recall a family celebration from which he was absent. Everyone loved his visits when he returned to Australia to visit his family, when we would talk until the early hours about anything and everything. We all had so much fun together over the years and laughter was the common element in most of our gatherings. We are all going to miss him so much, he will always be with us. I also would like to thank his great friends from London, many who i came to know from my visits, for their wonderful support of Gary in his time of need. And Des for looking after his brother and putting his life on hold.

Until we meet again.
